"I came to Reiki after observing an experience in the early 1980's
in which a healing occurred that was termed a 'Medical Miracle.' I'd
been raised to believe only in the efficacy and practice of Western
medicine, so this 'miracle' turned my sense of what was possible upside
down. Though I was extremely skittish, I vowed that if I were ever to
meet a Reiki teacher, I would take the training and find out for myself
if it 'made sense.'
"Shortly after my move to Minnesota, about two years after the
'miracle,' I met Charlotte Kasl, also a Quaker (a member of the Religious
Society of Friends) after a Meeting for Worship; she was handing out
her Reiki training flier. I walked up to her and said, 'I'll do it!'
Since then, Reiki has been a part of my everyday life: it has turned
around severe allergic reactions, calmed me, energized me, helped me
to make it through many a sleepless night and difficult situation, including
the death of my mother and loss of my life partner, healed the relationships
within my family, and has largely been responsible for the healing of
my clients, most of whom experienced severe traumas. In 1995, I became
a Reiki Master and Teacher, and began to pass on this fine gift. Never
a day passes without Reiki! It's as close as my hands!"
